Leadership and Vision for Gadsden
“Our community needs experienced and effective leadership. I was proud to champion jobs and education when I represented our community in Montgomery and I’ll put that same focus and results-oriented attitude to work if elected Mayor.”
About Craig Ford
Born and raised in Gadsden, I have nothing but love for this city. I also want nothing but the absolute best for Gadsden and its citizens which is why I am the best choice for mayor in 2022. I have lived in Gadsden all but a few years of my life: while attending college at Auburn University and a few years following. It was this time that made me appreciate Gadsden and all that we have to offer. As a graduate of Auburn with a degree in marketing and research, I know that I can find the answers that the citizens of our city are looking for and market Gadsden to achieve the needed results, making the City of Gadsden reach its fullest potential.
I currently own two small businesses in Gadsden and employ 20 people. I have owned these businesses for over 20 years and am proud of all they have accomplished under my leadership. The businesses are The Messenger, our locally owned, good-news, newspaper that focuses on this community and Ford Insurance. Ford Insurance is one of the oldest, independent insurance agencies in North Alabama. Previously, I served 18 years in the Alabama House of Representatives, where I successfully collaborated with members of both parties to bring about many positive changes statewide and in Etowah County.
I have been married to Gwen for 28 years and we have two children, Wells and Jonathan. We have two very spoiled dogs, Dollar and Volley. I am proud and honored to be an officer in the U.S. Army. In my free time, I enjoy the gym, the lake, and spending time with family and friends.
Strengths
As mayor, I will listen to the citizens and work for what is in the best interest of ALL the citizens, not a chosen few.
Great leaders make tough decisions, and I am capable, and willing, to make these tough decisions. As a business owner and an officer, I have had to make tough decisions and can do that as your mayor.
I will work hard to fill positions with people who are experts in their field and are more than capable of filling their roles. I am a connector and a networker. As an officer in the National Guard, I am responsible for managing and leading soldiers, and I have the unique opportunity of connecting people with resources.
Also, my 18 years as a legislator will allow me to connect Gadsden with the right industry, one that will bring higher paying wages. I am an experienced leader politically and professionally as is demonstrated by my two businesses and my 18 years as a state legislator. Lastly, I have a vision and purpose for my hometown.
How I can take Gadsden to maximum potential:
As a former state legislator, I have the relationships needed to move Gadsden forward. Not only will these relationships assist in moving Gadsden forward, but in the direction that is best for our community. I am capable of and interested in talking with anyone who has input and ideas to help me see this plan come to fruition.
